How to Care for Your Beeswax Candles

How to Care for Your Beeswax Candles

A beeswax candle is made to be used and enjoyed. With a little care, it will burn more evenly, last longer, and fill your home with a warm natural glow.

The First Burn

The first burn is the most important.

Allow the candle to burn until the melted wax reaches close to the edge of the container. This helps prevent tunnelling and encourages an even burn throughout the life of the candle.

Before each use, trim the wick to around 5mm. A shorter wick helps create a steady flame and reduces smoke.

Candle Care

To get the most from your candle:

  • Trim the wick to around 5mm before each burn.
  • Allow enough time for the wax to melt evenly across the surface during the first burn.
  • Burn your candle for no longer than 4 hours at a time.
  • Keep the wax pool free from wick trimmings, matches and other debris.
  • Extinguish the flame carefully using a snuffer or by gently blowing it out.
  • Stop using the candle when approximately 5mm of wax remains in the container.

Candle Safety

Please never leave a burning candle unattended.

Always:

  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep candles away from curtains, fabrics and other flammable materials.
  • Leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
  • Keep candles away from draughts.
  • Allow the candle to cool before handling.
  • Never move a candle while the wax is melted.

Taking a few simple precautions will help ensure your candle can be enjoyed safely.

Storing Your Candle

Beeswax is a natural material and may soften or discolour if exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures.

When not in use, store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keeping it covered will also help protect it from dust and debris.

A Simple Ritual

Lighting a candle can be a small pause in the day.

Whether it accompanies a quiet morning, an evening bath, time spent reading, or simply a slower moment at home, the warm glow of a beeswax candle brings a sense of calm and atmosphere to everyday life.

Made from a traditional natural material, beeswax candles have been used in homes for centuries. Their gentle honey scent and golden light make them a simple way to bring warmth and character into a space.
